Chosson Classes: Preparing for a Torah-True Marriage

Chosson classes (sometimes spelled chatan or choson classes) are a vital part of preparing for an Orthodox Jewish wedding and building a strong, Torah-based marriage. These personalized sessions are designed for the groom-to-be and typically taught by a qualified rabbi or experienced teacher.

We offer two options:

  1. For non-observant Jews – A foundational course that introduces the basic principles of the laws of niddah, allowing participants to observe the core requirements in a meaningful way.

  2. For observant Jews – A comprehensive course covering all the detailed laws of niddah, designed for those committed to full halachic observance.

Through these classes, the chosson learns:
Halachot of Marriage – the laws of family purity (taharat hamishpacha), marital obligations, and mitzvot specific to marriage.
Foundations of Jewish Marriage – exploring the spiritual and emotional aspects of building a bayit ne’eman b’yisrael (a faithful Jewish home).
Communication & Respect – guidance on fostering a healthy relationship, effective communication, and mutual respect.
Role of a Jewish Husband – understanding the responsibilities, opportunities, and kedusha (holiness) involved in marriage.

Our Chosson classes are held privately and are tailored to the chosson’s background and needs, and often conclude shortly before the wedding. These classes help ensure that the groom is confident and prepared for his role as a Jewish husband according to halacha and tradition.
