Tena’im (Engagement Agreement)

The tena’im (literally “conditions”) is a traditional Jewish prenuptial agreement historically signed at the engagement celebration. In earlier times, the tena’im set formal commitments between the families of the bride and groom, detailing expectations for the marriage, financial arrangements, and timing of the wedding.
